RC Late Nights

July 12, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Steven Universe, a story that follows a young boy being raised by aliens (“gems”) who rebelled against their tyrannical homeworld and now protect the Earth, is one of the most progressive shows on television.

This show, which is aimed at children and airs on Cartoon Network, explores war and colonialism, interpersonal violence and abuse, death and murder, consent, feminism, and more — all while being incredibly queer and femme-focused.

Join the Rainbow Center as we watch episodes of Steven Universe, discuss as a group, and analyze the show’s both obvious and subtle messages, themes, and lessons.
