Recommended Route: Sounder + Walk
If you're coming from downtown Tacoma:
- Get to Tacoma Dome Station
- Take the Sounder S Line to King Street Station
- Walk north (~15–20 minutes) to the parade area.
Why we suggest this option:
- No concern about downtown road closures.
- No parking hunt.
- Avoids I-5 congestion.
- King Street Station is south of the parade route and remains one of the easiest entry points into downtown during major events.
Alternative: Route 594 Express
If Sounder timing doesn't work:
- Take Sound Transit Route 594
- Exit in downtown Seattle near the transit tunnel stations.
- Walk to 4th & Union from the east side of downtown.
Expect some reroutes and delays as buses approach the parade corridor. Historically, many downtown routes are diverted when 4th Ave closes.
If You Must Drive
We would avoid driving directly to 4th & Union.
A better strategy is:
- Drive to Angle Lake Station or Tukwila International Boulevard Station
- Park there.
- Take the Link 1 Line to downtown.
The parade route occupies much of 4th Ave between downtown and Seattle Center, with cross streets also affected. Expect significant congestion and closures throughout the morning and afternoon.
Attendance is typically in the hundreds of thousands, and the best viewing spots around Union, Pike, and Westlake fill early.
